Some pics from over the weekend. On Saturday, Mike and I met up w/ Kathie, Gwenda, Douglas, and Orlando in Clarendon to watch part of the CSC Invitational Bike Race. Gwenda's friend Scottish Steven was racing in the amateur Cat 1/2/3 race and we met up to help cheer him on. It was pretty cool, the 1km oval course goes around Wilson and Clarendon Blvd, around the metro. The amateur race was 40 laps and was 1 hr long. There were tons of people out, it was pretty cool. I'm not sure who actually won, but the guy who won the Over 35 race earlier that morning was in the lead as of the last lap, pretty amazing. Kathie stayed for the whole day and said the professional race (100 laps!!) was really fun.
Mike and I then drove some dogs around for Homeward Trails. Check out Gertie, she is the cutest little beagle/basset mix. We dropped her off at her new foster home. Here is a link to
Gertie on petfinder, she's really spunky and sweet!
On Sunday, a few of us went to the Vintage Virginia Wine Festival. Not quite the wine festival of old (i.e. no dodging security guards and jumping in the display hot tubs; no one throwing up on the bus driver; and what's a wine festival without a tornado??). But it was nice to go after a few years break, and watch this space.....Christine is going to organize the festival again for next year, with a bus, nametags, and everything!!
