Some pics from over the weekend. On Saturday, Mike and I met up w/ Kathie, Gwenda, Douglas, and Orlando in Clarendon to watch part of the CSC Invitational Bike Race. Gwenda's friend Scottish Steven was racing in the amateur Cat 1/2/3 race and we met up to help cheer him on. It was pretty cool, the 1km oval course goes around Wilson and Clarendon Blvd, around the metro. The amateur race was 40 laps and was 1 hr long. There were tons of people out, it was pretty cool. I'm not sure who actually won, but the guy who won the Over 35 race earlier that morning was in the lead as of the last lap, pretty amazing. Kathie stayed for the whole day and said the professional race (100 laps!!) was really fun.

Mike and I then drove some dogs around for Homeward Trails. Check out Gertie, she is the cutest little beagle/basset mix. We dropped her off at her new foster home. Here is a link to Gertie on petfinder, she's really spunky and sweet!

On Sunday, a few of us went to the Vintage Virginia Wine Festival. Not quite the wine festival of old (i.e. no dodging security guards and jumping in the display hot tubs; no one throwing up on the bus driver; and what's a wine festival without a tornado??). But it was nice to go after a few years break, and watch this space.....Christine is going to organize the festival again for next year, with a bus, nametags, and everything!!

Actually it looks like you're posing in front of a poster! Nice picture! Did Mike take it?

I bet their baby slept well. I don't agree with giving babies wine. I wait until they're 2, and then I start them on mixed drinks.

Chet's had a sip of beer before. We're waiting until he's a bit older to start the wine. We want him to have a mature palate. Otherwise, we might raise a boy who has a penchant for pink wines and we really really really can't have that.

But only healthy ones -- with orange juice mixed with the booze.

Don't forget the milk drinks! Nothing like a White Russian to help build up those bones!

That's right! And even then, only on special occasions.

So the haircut was after this picture was taken? Cause I was thinking your hair looked really nice there. I want to see a picture. (Don't worry, I probably won't print it out and take it to the hairdresser to copy like I did last time.)

this photo reminds me of an album cover pic, only a really lame one, or an out-take of one. gwenda looks all happy to be on her phone; mike looks confused; i have no idea what jimmy is up to; and i look less than thrilled to be there - NICE! I'm totally giggling here at my desk over this photo, though I'm sure no one else will find it funny. I blame the lack of caffeine in my system at this point of the day - must go find my morning cuppa!

OK, this is really freaky...I saw your captions in my email and thought...did I post this? "Bike race, foster dog..." There's even a Mike (husband?) Well my husband Michael is a bike racer (soon to be Cat. 1), we foster dogs and I've had beagles for 13 years! I looked at your pics and we even have the same style stroller for our daughter. Crazy,eh? Anyway, I thought it was worth a hello. We're friends of Alecia and Michael and Charlie!

Hope to update my page soon...

That's too funny! Parallel universes...although the baby isn't mine:-)

Definitely worth a hello, I love coincidences!

Mon Dieu! Mais non! Get thee to the Rhone valley, and introduce the boy to Beaujolais... that will cure him of any rosey leanings... ;)
